I have been on the hunt for a good headboard. I prefer a fabric headboard because it looks much lighter and less clunky than wood furniture and hurts a lot less if you bonk your head. When looking for a new piece of furniture I like to look at high end stores like Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, and West Elm for inspiration. Once I find a piece I like, I go on a hunt to find a similar item at an affordable price. That’s how I found these gorgeous headboards. The top headboard is from Pottery Barn I like how it has the curved shape and the nailhead detail trim but for $1,300 I am not going anywhere near that checkout. I found this remarkable replica, on the bottom, on Amazon for just under $300 for a queen size! As if the savings of 77% were not enough, I actually like the headboard on the bottom more; it has a lot more intricate detailing, the nailheads are more noticeable, plus it’s offered in more colors! Score!
These benches would look really cute at the end of a bed and would be perfect to sit and tie your shoes in the morning. The one on the top is from Crate & Barrel for $800 and the one on the bottom is a pretty close replica sold by Wayfair for $309, a savings of 61%. Just like with the headboards, they both are made with a linen fabric and have a nailhead trim detail. The wooden legs’ dark color contracts really well against the light fabric and the flared legs makes for a much more interesting look.
The night stand on the left is from one of my favorite stores, West Elm. I like West Elm because they sell really nice furniture and accessories that are similar to Pottery Barn and Crate & Barrel but they are usually cheaper. I found the table on the left from West Elm for $250. I really like how it has the intricate turned legs detailing paired with a geometric simple drawer. I found a similar product sold by Coaster Home for just $58, a savings of 77%. For that price you could buy multiple tables and still come out cheaper than if you had bought just one from West Elm.
The bedding on the left is from Anthropologie and a queen size is sold for $268. I like it but it might be a little bit too froo-froo for my taste so the set on the right is a good alternative for me. The right picture is a bed set sold at Target for $70 (a savings of 74%). The Target set is more subtle and even though it’s pleated, it’s not so feminine that the hubby will complain. The pleating is a pretty classic look and is an upgrade up from a plain white comforter.
I have 2 similar lamps like these that I love. The faux crystal material brings in a sense of elegance and luxury to any room and they look great in a set, one on each night stand. The white lamp shade allows more light to glow throughout the room but a black shade can be added if you prefer a room with lower lighting that feels more secluded. The lamp on the left is from one of my favorite inspiration stores, Ethan Allen, and is being sold for $560 per lamp. The remarkable replica, on the right, is available on Amazon for just $65 which adds up to a savings of 88%!
Sunburst mirrors are an easy and fun way to add a little spunk to a room. In the bedroom, I suggest hanging one above the bed for a perfect focal point. The one on the left is available at Ethan Allen for $600 (ouch). In my world, that’s a little steep for a mirror but the version on the right (though smaller) is a much more affordable option from Pier 1 for only $23. This remarkable replica takes the cake with a savings of 96%!
Hope you’re having an enchanting day,
Natalie
This post is inspiring! I love it, our taste is freakishly similar.
I adore the head board, so classic!
I live in Australia and over here we have a chain of stores, like Target but cheaper, that recently went into liquidation. Bad for them, wonderful for me. I found a gorgeous black faux leather bench for the end of my bed for $7. It is the pride of my bedroom.
I love how all of your pieces aren’t overly feminine, I have just moved in with my boyfriend and we are finding styling to be our biggest challenge. Any hints?
Thanks so much.
Love from Australia. x
Hi Bec!
Thanks for your sweet comment! About your question on different tastes, I know just how you feel! When my husband and I moved in together there was a lot of conflicting choices on furniture and decor (he had the ugliest lamp with a big bear figurine that HAD to go!). My best advice would be to choose your battles wisely and try to incorporate a little of both of you into each room. For me that meant getting rid of all the feminine pinks and learning to love more masculine colors like black/white combos and teals. If there is something you are really persistant on (like picking out the couch) then let him have some small victories like picking out a couple room accessories or the coffee table so he feels like he is contributing somewhat. You’ll probably find that he won’t care too much about the small details like pillows and rugs so just make sure what you pick will be gender neutral! Once you start mixing in the different styles you will actually create a more eclectic style that feels cozier and is a reflection of both of you!
Hope that helped some 🙂
Thanks again for stopping by,
Natalie
